Don't trust your detergent!

We want your WoolOvers to last just as much as you do (we have our reputation to uphold!) so here is our guide to prolonging the life of your knitwear. Follow these steps and your garments should last for years to come!

Quick summary:

All of our fabrics are a blend of natural protein fibres and knitted from machine-washable yarn. Wash them on a wool program, using a non-bio detergent at a maximum spin speed of 600 rpm.

Why non-bio?

Many biological detergents contain wool-eating enzymes. Never use biological detergents or stain removers on Wool, Silk or Cashmere fibres because the enzymes will literally digest the fabric and you may end up with unsightly holes!

Are all non-bios fine to use?

Afraid not. Those that contain bleach will lead to progressive fading and may weaken the fabric, again leading to holes.

What products do you recommend?

Wool and natural fibre detergents are available at all supermarkets. Many sell Woolmark-approved own brand products. Other good brands include Dreft, Persil Silk and Wool, Woolite, Stergene and Ecover Wool Wash.

So I definitely don't need to hand wash?

Most of our knitwear is machine washable, there are some newer styles that are hand wash only. Please see wash label for washing instructions.

REMEMBER: to increase the life of your WoolOvers, use a slow spin (600 rpm or less) and a low temperature (30° max.) to avoid stretching, shrinking and matting of the fibres.

What about drying?

Our cotton blends will be fine in your tumble dryer, but avoid direct heat on the woollens. These should be reshaped and allowed to dry naturally.

TIP: Keep them supported to maintain their shape, a broad banister can be ideal, or simply lay flat, ensuring you rotate it.

I received a feedback form in regards to above purchase. This was my feedback. I was then notified that this would not be given to Woolovers. I thought it should.

Dear Team,
The arrival of my purchases filled me with joy as my husband had purchased a couple of jumpers and his are lovely.

Firstly, let me say, I am a large lady and I normally wear size 18 clothing. With winter coming on I felt the 18 - 20 size (XL) would allow the donning of the odd thermal underneath.

On the arrival of said purchases I saw immediately that a smaller size would probably have fitted better. Once I tried them on I decided that although they were too big I would keep them and make the best of them, sending them back would be a pain.

With great glee and delight I decided to wear this jumper that very day. Imagine my consternation when it immediately began to 'pill'. Within 4 hours there was significant 'pilling'. Photo attached, and three days later the jumper front was a total mess.

Guys, I really like this jumper. I love the colour and the softness and the warmth. So I have continued to wear it.

Wash day arrived for this little item. Although the washing instructions say that it is OK to wash in the machine, I decided to use a warm hand wash as I thought this would help retain the softness. It was not wrung, it was dried flat and out of the sun.

So imagine my surprise when I put it back on. Photo attached.

The jumper has stretched I believe in all directions. It now appears to be about 4" longer than the original product would have been (although I didn't measure when it arrived) and I can wrap my hands in the sleeves. Wrapping hands can sometimes be a wonderful thing, especially for teenagers, but not so wonderful when cooking the dinner.

Well, you did ask!!

Shall I send them back?

I think I should.

Any Advice??!!

I haven't had the courage to wear the Chunky Roll Neck Jumper yet.
